Most advertisers use only a small fraction of Meta’s settings. This means they are leaving money on the table.
If you want to lower costs and boost your ROAS, you need to look deeper. Here are 8 hidden settings that can transform your campaign performance.
1. Percentage-Based Minimum Spend Limits
Meta just rolled out percentage-based minimum spend limits for CBO campaigns. This is a massive change for scaling brands. Before you could only set fixed dollar minimums ($100/day per ad set). Now you can now set minimums as a percentage of your total budget. Fixed dollar minimums often force budgets into underperforming ad sets while percentage-based limits give Meta the flexibility to allocate spend based on performance.
Your winners will get more budget automatically.

2. Compare Attribution Settings
For most of the case scenarios, default attribution model (7-day click, 1-day view) is fine, but for a few cases, I would recommend removing view-based attributions. Brands that have a big organic channel (TikTok, IG reels etc), or many manual drafted orders, or lots of organic return customers, or system-generated subscriptions/rebills.
I recommend going into “Compare attribution settings” and toggle on 7-day click, 1-day view. This way you can check of all the purchases attributed to Meta, how many of them are coming from 7d click, how many of them are coming from 1d view.

3. Ad Scheduling (Lifetime Budgets Only)
Meta hides this feature behind Lifetime Budgets. You can run ads only during business hours.
Speed to lead is vital. Why pay for a lead at 2 AM if you can’t call them until Monday?

4. Combined Social Proof
Social proof creates credibility. You can now tell Meta to combine likes and reactions for similar ads. Instead of having three ads with 2 likes each, you get one unified count of 6 likes.
Higher engagement numbers make your brand look more "legit" and increase trust.

5. Value Rules
You can tell Meta which customers are worth more to you. Increase your bid for high-value segments (like a specific age group or location).
If women aged 35+ convert at a higher rate, you should be willing to pay more to reach them.

6. Targeting Overrides
Meta’s AI is smart, but sometimes you need hard boundaries. Deselect "Use a suggestion" to enforce strict age or gender limits.
Use this for specific offers, like an upsell that only applies to your existing email list.

7. Specific Placement Selection
Standard settings show your ads everywhere. Remove the Audience Network for non-conversion campaigns. Audience Network is often low-quality traffic. If you aren't optimizing for sales, it can waste your budget on "cheap" clicks.

8. Optimize Text Per Person
This feature personalizes your ad for every individual user. Meta swaps your headlines and primary text based on what a user prefers. Some people respond to long-form stories; others want short headlines. Give Meta 5 options and let it choose.

9. Automated Rules
Stop "tinkering" with your ads every hour. Set rules to automatically scale budgets by 3% if the CPA is low, or turn ads off if frequency gets too high. It removes emotion from your strategy and helps you manage dozens of campaigns at once.
