When Jennifer Ferguson launched Handful, she wasn’t following a trend. She was solving a personal problem, and in doing so, tapped into something deeply universal.
Jennifer started as a fitness instructor, frustrated by the lack of functional, flattering sports bras. So she created her own. But Handful quickly became more than just an apparel company. It became a brand rooted in confidence, comfort, and supporting women at every stage of life including breast cancer survivors, athletes, and anyone navigating body changes.
In our first of many Founder Interview Series, we sat down with Jennifer to talk about the early scrappy days of Handful, what it means to scale with purpose, and why she still reads every customer review. There’s a quiet strength in how she builds, and a clarity about why she builds, that every founder can learn from.
We talked about:
- Turning lived experience into product-market fit
- Navigating growth without losing authenticity
- Why “support” means more than just product design
- Building a brand that customers feel connected to

This one’s especially for the builders doing it the hard way: the ones prioritizing community, mission, and impact alongside the metrics. Jennifer’s story proves that it’s possible to grow and stay grounded.
